Rhinoplasty

Dr. Pasquale performs rhinoplasty (nose job), nose implants, asian rhinoplasty, and nose reshaping at his Honolulu clinic.

A nose that fits the face is an important concept in rhinoplasty also known as nose reshaping. This is one of the characteristic features of the face and can dominate other features. To reshape the nose can have a dramatic effect on the eyes, the chin and the overall facial appearance. Here at Dr. Pasquale's clinic in Honolulu Hawaii we have experience in Asian Rhinoplasty, Caucasian Rhinoplasty, African American Rhinoplasty as well as the many ethnic noses around the world.

The nose reshaping done by Dr. Pasquale is usually performed as a closed rhinoplasty. This technique is all done with the cuts inside the nose as opposed to the open rhinoplasty techniques used by many surgeons today. The open technique which leaves external scars. We believe plastic surgery such as rhinoplasty should be done with very little noticeable scarring.

What makes Dr. Pasquale's Clinic in Hawaii different is that we have over 25 years experience with Rhinoplasty on Asians, Caucasians and African Americans, yet each rhinoplasty we perform is unique. We do not follow a Rhinoplasty formula or text book approach, but take special care to use a combination of skill and technique to give you the nose you want.

Changing the shape or size of your nose may be something you have wanted to do for a long time. Rhinoplasty can adjust both the size and shape of your nose to make it more esthetically pleasing. It can also correct breathing abnormalities and other functional problems due to problems with the internal structure of the nose. During rhinoplasty, incisions are made along the rims of the nostrils to avoid visible scarring. Then extra cartilage is removed and the bones are carefully reset to reshape the nose for the desired look. If you think that rhinoplasty is the right procedure for you, please contact us today.

Appearances are all important in the world today. Everyone wants to look good not just to look appealing and attractive to others but also for themselves. The manner in which a person sees himself or herself tremendously influences the way they think about themselves. Cosmetic surgery has made it possible for individuals to correct and reshape their body in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Rhinoplasty is a vastly popular plastic surgery that allows individuals to reshape the way their nose appears. Ideally surgeons prefer to perform this procedure in individuals out of their teens so that proper growth in the nasal area has occurred. In boys they prefer to wait a little longer. There is however no upper age limit for the rhinoplasty procedure, as long as the individual is in good physical and mental health. The procedure can be performed along with other cosmetic surgery procedures on the face such as a face lift, or eyelid surgery.

Dr. Pasquale encourages his patients to talk about their views and expectations of the procedure so that they have a realistic view of the rhinoplasty procedure.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure in Honolulu, Hawaii

Rhinoplasty can help alleviate birth defects or those caused by injury and also reduce breathing problems. At a purely aesthetic level it can increase and decrease the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip and the bridge also alter the angle of the nose and the upper lip. The procedure is performed by a cosmetic or plastic surgeon and is done under local or general anesthesia. Rhinoplasty usually takes an hour or two to perform and the time varies according to the amount of surgery required. The skin is first separated from the bone and it is sculpted to provide the desired appearance, thereafter the skin is put back in place. The rhinoplasty surgery may be performed by making incisions inside the nose; thus leaving no apparent scarring. While an ‘open procedure’ would involve making a small incision in the columella or the strip of tissues that separates the nostrils. Once the surgery is completed a splint is used to support the nose and to maintain its new shape. Also nasal packs may be applied in the nostrils to support the septum, the wall that divides the air passages.

Recovering from Rhinoplasty

After the rhinoplasty the nose would feel swollen and ache and the area around the eyes may also be sore. Medication and cold compression may be used to ease the discomfort. When lying down, the patient is advised to keep the head at an elevated position higher than the rest of the body. A little bleeding is common initially after the surgery and the surgeon would advise not to blow the nose. In about 10 days time the stitches are removed and the patient can go back to his or her normal routine. However strenuous activity and exercise that increase blood pressure must be avoided for several weeks, until the surgeon advises. It would take about a year for the nose to recover completely from the procedure and it is important that the patient adheres to all the recommendations and precautions that the surgeon advises.
