What is Radiesse®?
Formerly known as Radiance, Radiesse is a bio-compatible injectable filler used in various cosmetic, reconstructive, and therapeutic applications. Its properties that supplement the skin's own depleted collagen are used to augment and contour folds, depressions and defects of the facial area. It is especially suited to smoothing out the deep wrinkles or creases that appear as folds between the nose and the mouth and the creases on the sides of the nose. Popular for its long lasting effects in comparison with other facial enhancement products, Radiesse has proven to be a versatile facial contouring product. It is a good choice to augment or smoothen areas such as the chin, cheek, and around the mouth where a larger volume is required to build up tissue.

Radiesse can be used to accentuate facial features that require more definition or to soften facial features where less definition is required, depending on the intended effect. It is cream-like in texture and remains this way throughout its life, allowing the areas on the face that are enhanced to maintain sensitivity and feeling.

How long does Radiesse Last?
Radiesse lasts for a period of several months to a few years. This time period varies depending on the area to be treated. Some touch-up treatments may be necessary

Is Radiesse safe?
Radiesse takes on the characteristics of the surrounding facial tissue, remaining soft and pliable. It contains the same compounds found in human bones and teeth, so there is almost no risk of an allergic reaction.

Radiesse is approved by the Federal Food and Drug Administration and has been in use by both men and women over the last seven years. Radiesse is safe and is a proven alternative to bovine collagen injections and solid facial implants.

How is Radiesse used?
Using an ultra fine needle, Radiesse is injected just below the surface of the skin of the treatment area. If you are uncomfortable with the light needle pricks, we can treat the area with a topical anesthetic to make the procedure painless.

Radiesse is not absorbed into your system, unlike other dermal fillers. This means that we will not have to overfill the wrinkled area in consideration of how the product might settle over time.

The procedure will take less than an hour. Results are immediate, and can easily be checked mid procedure so you can determine at any point if you would like additional enhancement.

There is no recovery time required. After you leave our office, you can return to your daily activities. There are minimal possible injection-related side effects which include some swelling and redness, which normally dissipates within a day or two. Other side effects may also include edema, swelling, pain, itching, discoloration, and tenderness at the injection site.

While Radiesse does not require any allergy testing, you must take a few precautions prior to Restylane treatment.

What are the precautions that come with Radiesse treatment?
We ask our patients to avoid certain medications for a week prior to treatment. These include aspirin, non-steriod anti-inflammatory medicines, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements. These medications could increase bruising and bleeding.

Consuming alcohol leading up to your Radiesse treatment could affect the blood flow and circulation in your body. This might make the treatment less effective.

We cannot provide Radiesse injections on a site that is experiencing an infection.

It has not been determined whether Radiesse is safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or by persons under 18 years of age.

Can Radiesse be used in combination with other procedures?
Botox is frequently used in combination with facial fillers such as Radiesse. These procedures combined often provide good results.

It is also a popular choice to combine Radiesse treatment with surgical facelift procedures, such as facelifts, forehead and brow lifts, and neck lifts.
