Mastopexy is a cosmetic breast surgical procedure that provides a breast lift to saggy breasts. Before

After
The breasts are initially sore and swollen and the woman requires a week or two of rest after which she can return to her daily routine but strenuous activity must be avoided until 5-6 weeks or till the surgeon advises. A surgical bra would be required to be worn over the gauge dressings and after a while it may be replaced by a softer support bra. It is vital that post operative care be taken seriously. The breast skin may feel dry and a moisturizer may be applied gently with care taken to avoid the suture areas.

After the mastopexy the breast feels lighter as there is no sagging and the breasts acquire a fitter and firmer look. The scarring from the mastopexy procedure is permanent; however the cosmetic surgeon will try his or her best to ensure that visibility of the scars is minimal. Also since the scars are closer to the areola area the woman can wear a low top or a bikini without worrying about the scars. The doughnut mastopexy will leave less scarring and that too only around the areola. It is vital to understand that a breast lift doesn’t assure that the skin will not loosen and sag in the future and it is important to adhere by the advice and instructions of the surgeon.
